As a Director of Photography I do not get directly involved in any of the script writing process. By the time a DP is hired the script has been written for some time….quite often many years. The DP does have some input during shooting as to the dramatic content of certain elements but this is generally very limited and is left largely to the Director and Writer in consultation, quite often, with the Producer.
